Where Potential Becomes Purpose: Abbas at HCA
There are professionals who chase roles — and then there are those who build them. Abbas, a Senior Manager leading the Finance and Shared Services team at HCA Consulting, is firmly in the second camp.
When he first joined HCA nearly two years ago, Abbas didn’t expect to be leading a 20-person team or shaping the way the company builds its internal culture. What began as a consulting role quickly evolved into something deeper: a place where his ambitions, values, and leadership style found room to grow.
“I started off as a consultant, but soon transitioned into a full-time managerial role. What made me stay wasn’t just the business model — it was the people and the way ownership leads from the front,” Abbas reflects.

Before joining HCA, Abbas was working at Daraz in the strategy and planning department. But the move into outsourcing introduced him to a whole new way of working — one that came with its own surprises.
“I think the biggest shock in my early days was interacting with clients from the US. The work ethic and communication style were very different from what I was used to in Pakistan. It took some adjusting, but it also made me better,” he says with a smile.
Ask Abbas about his most rewarding experience at HCA, and he won’t name a project or a milestone. Instead, he talks about his team.

“Hiring, training, and building this team from scratch — that’s what I’m most proud of. It was new for me, and definitely challenging, but watching these people grow has been incredibly rewarding.”
In a world where leadership is often defined by performance metrics, Abbas offers a different lens: people-first leadership with a strong bias for growth. It’s not just about delegating; it’s about developing.
And if his job at HCA were a movie? Without hesitation, Abbas titles it Tangled. We’ll let you unpack that metaphor. Also, would he survive a zombie apocalypse? Yes — and not just because he’s resourceful.
“I have a pretty big team, and many of them are from operations — those guys are tough. I’m confident we’d survive,” he says.
Abbas’s journey is more than a promotion arc — it reflects the kind of culture HCA strives for: one where high performers are trusted, teams are built with care, and leadership is rooted in ownership and empathy.

At HCA, growth isn’t just vertical — it’s deeply personal.
This is the future we’re building: where people matter as much as performance, and leaders like Abbas turn potential into purpose.
